Comparative Essay of Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm

Not every leader is power hungry. Some leaders are good with power but others can never get enough. They are never satisfied with how much power they have. They want more and more, no matter the sacrifice . In William Goldings Lord of the Flies and George Orwells Animal Farm, secondary characters, who play the roles of spokesmen, enforcers, and followers, bolster the power of the leaders, there by ensuring the leaders success. Firstly, both books contain secondary characters who play the role of spokesmen and increase their leaders power. In Animal Farm, the secondary character, Squealer, has a way with words. No matter what the angle, he is able to convince all of the animals on the farm that what he says is†¦show more content†¦To finalize, both novels include secondary character that play the role of a spokesmen in which they use their intellect and persuasive skill to assist their leaders power. Secondly, secondary characters in both novels play the role of followers who help their leader in obtaining more power. In Animal Farm, Boxer represents the hard working and loyal people. Boxer is a inspiration to all the other animals because of his strength, loyalty, â€Å"and his never-failing cry of I will work harder† (Orwell 49). Plus, Boxers faith and trust in Napoleon inspires the other animals to do so as well. In contrast, in Lord of the Flies, the Savages are the followers of Jack. They are all loyal to Jack but only because they want the food and protection that the hunters provide. Since Piggy does not have this knowledge of the truth, he is not able to explain that they only have themselves to fear, (comma splice) therefore the rest of the boys would have no other need to join the savages. The boys follow Jack because they fear the beast and Jack promises them that â€Å" [his] hunters will protect [them] from the beast† (Golding 166). For centuries, racism has become the universal epitome of culture, despite the efforts of various civilizations, such as the Western and European to combat these indifferences among people. A race is specific social group that can be differentiated through various ways, from facial features and hair textures, to social norms and habits that constitutes to that group. These differences contribute to our uniqueness and humanity. Because people can be grouped by any number of differences, Man, lead by his ignorance, perpetuated the issue once social-hierarchies began to develop, splitting society to its various groups. Initially, Rick extends his gratitude for their kindness but he has trouble relating with the fraternity. Audience gained interest and this motivated me to deliver another presentation with my powerful and bare voice. The above two incidence suggest that I have been able to self-confidently handling the unfavourable situations. In order to perform my duties and responsibilities, I was not dependant on the external stimulus. Incidence also depicts that I am able to influence my team by providing the powerful recommendations.
